After thirteen years of living and working in different continents Rob van Doeselaar returned to the Netherlands and painted his evening meals. After all, food is one of the most important things in life.
Coming from far it is quite a contrast to experience the Western way of consuming food. You can buy any type of food every day. Cooking Mexican, Italian, Thai or Japanese food does not pose any problem. Supermarkets are highly developed in marketing. As a customer you are bombarded with customer cards, coupons, buy one get one free, a gift when you buy some brand of cookies, and so on. It all appeals to the hunter in ourselves. You hardly ever buy any product for the full price.
